Jay Trees is a Senior Portfolio Manager for Segall Bryant & Hamill’s Private Wealth group. He has more than 40 years of experience in the investment industry, providing investment management services to high-net-worth individuals, families and their related trusts, retirement plans and foundations. Mr. Trees joined the firm in October 2015 as part of SBH’s acquisition of Trees Investment Counsel. Before founding and serving as chairman of Trees Investment Counsel, Mr. Trees was the co-founder of Trees Front Associates in 1994, the founder and president of Trees Trust and Investment Counsel in 1982 and vice president in the Personal Trust Investment Division of the Northern Trust Company from 1966 through 1982. He earned an honors degree in Economics from Princeton University in 1966 and graduated with an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago in 1970. Mr. Trees is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Investment Counselor (CIC). He has been involved with many business associations throughout his long career, and is currently a member of The Economic Club of Chicago, the Commonwealth Club of Chicago, CFA Society Chicago and CFA Institute. He is a member of the Investment Committee of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, a Trustee of the Nature Conservancy of Illinois, and a Member of the City of Lake Forest Police Pension Board.
