Alan Polansky is the Director of Research, a Senior Portfolio Manager for Segall Bryant & Hamill’s Private Wealth group, and the Portfolio Manager for the Private Opportunities funds. He is responsible for managing and extending the platform which serves the broader needs of SBH clients—overseeing investment research and asset allocation as well as the firm’s alternative investment strategies. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Polansky was the Senior Director of Investments at the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF). In that role he helped oversee the $1 billion endowment portfolio, with responsibilities including asset allocation strategy, selection and monitoring of investment managers, and performance analysis and reporting. Prior to JUF, he held roles at the University of Chicago as a senior analyst as well as at Blackwood Securities in New York where he managed the proprietary trading desk. Mr. Polansky graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Economics and Sociology and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society Chicago. Mr. Polansky has been in the investment industry since 2000. Mr. Polansky supports Evanston Scholars, a nonprofit organization that improves college access and success for a diverse group of ambitious Evanston students who are traditionally first-generation college entrants, low-income students, and students of color, starting with the college admissions process and continuing through college graduation.
